Gotham

Management
Whitelisted

1. General Conduct

  • Respect: Treat all players with respect. No harassment, hate speech, or discrimination is allowed out of character on Gotham's forums/discord or in people's PMs in-game or OOC chat. This also includes not harassing staff in their direct messages about your whitelist application, any verdict they decide on, etc.
  • Maturity: Maintain a mature, cooperative attitude during roleplay. Disruptive or childish behavior that detracts from the experience will not be tolerated.
  • No Trolling: Any attempt to intentionally disrupt or ruin the roleplay for others will lead to punishments. This includes any form of trolling or purposeful griefing.

2. Restricted Roleplay Concepts

  • Terrorism/Serial Killer: Any form of terrorism or serial killer roleplay will not be allowed and will result in a ban from the server.
  • Racial Supremacy: Any form of racial supremacy roleplay will not be allowed and will result in a ban from the server. Characters may be prejudice and act accordingly but you cannot start up a racial supremacy faction, it will not be tolerated.
  • Real Life Criminal Organizations: While you can use the general concept of a real life group, you may not use their actual name or any copyrighted material from them. This is in reference to Rockstar's stance on using in real life brands. Tweaking the name of a real group is allowed but you cannot use the real name 1:1. — Example - Motorcycle Clubs may not use any real life club names and/or their patches.

3. Roleplay Standards

  • Realistic Roleplay: Actions, behaviors, and dialogue should be based on the setting of the server, New York. Everything should feel natural and immersive.
  • Character Development: Your character should have a realistic backstory and personality. Avoid creating "overpowered" characters or ones that have unrealistic backgrounds.
  • Grammar and Spelling: Use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation to ensure clarity in your roleplay. This helps maintain the immersive atmosphere.

4. No Metagaming

  • Definition: Metagaming is using knowledge your character wouldn't have, often gained from out-of-character sources (OOC), to influence in-character decisions.
  • Example: If you know the location of a character through OOC chat or knowledge, you cannot use that in your in-character actions. Always stay in-character when making decisions.

5. No Powergaming

  • Definition: Powergaming is when you force an action or outcome onto another player without allowing them a chance to respond.
  • Example: "I knock you out and steal everything from your pockets" without allowing the other player to react. Always give your roleplay partners a chance to react and make their own decisions.

6. No Random Deathmatching (RDM)

  • Definition: RDM refers to randomly killing other players without a valid reason or roleplay scenario.
  • Example: Shooting another player for no reason, especially in public spaces or without proper context.
  • Consequence: RDM will lead to severe penalties, including bans, depending on the severity and frequency of the incident.

7. Robbing/Scamming

  • Robberies may occur at any area of the map besides safezones (hospitals, police stations, city hall). You are allowed to rob whatever is on a person including money and items. Travelling large distances to commit robberies will be considered poor roleplay (Example: Travelling from Broker to Alderney for a single robbery). Killing a player and robbing items will be not tolerated.
  • Scamming may occur at any area of the map besides safezones (hospitals, police stations, city hall). You may scam money and/or items from anyone. You will NOT be allowed to scam the following: vehicles OR properties.

8. Crime and Law Enforcement

  • Realistic Crime: Engage in criminal activity logically. If you’re committing a crime, ensure that it makes sense in the context of your character and the situation.
  • Law Enforcement: If you're playing as a police officer or a law enforcement character, follow procedures and rules that align with your role. Acting outside the bounds of realism will result in punishment.
  • Criminal Consequences: Every crime you commit should carry the potential for consequence. Be prepared for interactions with law enforcement or other factions in the server. This includes assaulting/killing NPC pedestrians. If a police officer catches you injuring a NPC pedestrian, you are liable to be charged as if it was a player.

9. No Abuse of Server Mechanics

  • Server Exploits: Do not exploit or abuse server mechanics, bugs, or mods. If you discover any, report them to the admin team.
  • Cheating: Any form of cheating or using third-party tools to gain an unfair advantage will result in an immediate permanent ban.

10. Sexual Roleplay Consent

  • Definition: Sexual roleplay is allowed only between two consenting parties in a private area without the chance of a third party stumbling onto it. If a third party is around, the roleplay must stop and not start again until the two consenting parties are alone again. If you fail to roleplay in a secluded area, you will be punished. Sexual consent roleplay can be revoked at anytime by either party.
  • Refusal to Roleplay: If a player does not wish to engage in certain actions, respect their choice and proceed with another course of action. Failure to do so will result in punishment.

11. Offensive Roleplay

  • No Exceptions: Under no circumstances will any sexual assault, bestiality, pedophilic or incestual roleplay be allowed on the server. You will be banned if found doing so. No second chances or appeals, nothing. There are other servers for that, not this one.

12. Character Deaths

  • Player Kill: When a character dies in a roleplay scene from an un-planned scenario, the player will not be allowed back to the area where the scene took place until the roleplay has moved on. Your character will have no knowledge of what took place prior or after and cannot be told about what occurred in an attempt to re-engage in the situation.
  • Character Kill: Character Kills are a permanent death of your character either from a faction who has permission to CK your character, dying due to an extreme interaction with police and/or by admin approval after a request has been filed. Character Kills are not to be pursued lightly and should be requested only when all other means fail. If during your attempt to Character Kill someone, you and/or any other player dies by the hands of the victim, you can be Character Killed.

13. Business and Economy

  • Realistic Business Operations: Any business operations must be realistic. Don’t open or operate businesses that are not logically feasible for your character’s resources or skillset.
  • Money and Wealth: Character wealth should be earned and should reflect the time, effort, and decisions made within the roleplay. Fast-track or unrealistic wealth accumulation is not allowed.

14. Faction Management/Property Management Additional Ruleset

  • Follow all additional faction related rules that have been established separately to the rules list by the Faction Management team. This includes things like Rules of Engagement, Wars, Allies, etc. Failure to follow these rules may result in a faction warning, strike and/or complete disbandment of your faction. See the Faction Management section for a list of these rules.
  • Follow all additional Property Management rules that have been established by Property Management in relation to businesses and housing. Failure to follow these additional rules may result in loss of property. See the Property Management section for a list of these rules.

15. No OOC Asset Transfers/Real World Trading
  • Any Out of Character asset transferring is strictly prohibited. This includes vehicles, properties, money, items, etc. If caught transferring items to either an alternative account and/or a third party, you will be banned.
  • Real World Trading is also not allowed. This is the act of purchasing In Game items for real world monies. If caught you will be banned.

16. Scrolling Weapons

  • All small weapons (melees/pistols) do not need to be roleplayed being taken out.
  • Larger weapons (baseball bats, golf clubs, machine pistols, rifles, shotguns) and weapons pulled whilst in a vehicle MUST be roleplayed being taken out at all times.

17. Consequences for Violations

  • Warnings: Players may receive a warning for minor violations of the rules.
  • Temporary Bans: Repeated or more severe violations will result in temporary bans, with the length determined by the severity of the offense.
  • Permanent Bans: Severe offenses, such as cheating, harassment, or consistently breaking major rules, may result in a permanent ban from the server.
  • Appeals: If you believe that you have been wrongfully banned or penalized, you may submit an appeal to the admin team.
